How does it work?
Define
The first and most important step is to clarify your objectives. Once the project is defined, I will ask you a few questions to elicit the information I need to create a design that meets those objectives.
Draft
Using the information retrieved from our conversations and further research, I will provide you with a small number of draft designs so you know what to expect from the final product.
Develop
Sometimes we'll nail the design in the draft stage, sometimes we won't. In the development stage we'll work together closely to refine the drafts.
Deliver
Your project is complete! You'll be provided with all the materials you require to put your design into practice. Should your project require any further production, I'll ensure you're supported by one of my trusted suppliers.
FAQs
Why don't you offer off-the-shelf solutions?
Have you ever given a presentation or speech using a canned script? I hope not! The approach to a design project should be no different. You will have specific business and communication objectives which means your design must be tailor-made for your target audience. If you want an off-the-shelf solution there's plenty out there - but you get what you pay for (believe me).
How much does it cost?
Creating a brand or website is much like building a house, the cost depends entirely on the size and complexity of the project. The best way to gauge the cost is to get in touch and talk me through the details of the project. Letting me know your budget also helps me understand how much time can be devoted to your project and what can be produced in that time.
What's included in the cost?
Once we've discussed your project I will provide you with an itemised quote. The quote will clearly describe each design service you'll receive as well as any additional costs, such a printing, stock photography and other contracted professionals, if relevant. Please be aware that any changes made to the brief after the project has begun will incur an additional cost.
What is your payment policy?
I work on a 50% deposit basis and will begin work on your project as soon as it's received. Working on a deposit basis is a common practice which helps to identify who's really committed to their project and who's looking for a freebie!
How many amendments will I get?
'Amendments' is a dirty word in this business! The term itself implies that the designer is either thoughtless or careless with their work. Of course I want to involve you in your design project, which is why there's a development stage. But I'd like to be clear from the offset that design is not entirely subjective. I will produce designs based on well established, objective principles and will always advise you against decisions that will compromise your objectives. It might sound cruel but it's what I'm paid for!
